Evaluation & Comments: I, personally, don't remember much about the great migration. That being said, I thought that this book was informational because it did help me remember what I learned a long time ago about the great migration. It is helpful because they use short poems that are information instead of long passages, which makes it interesting for young students. I feel like when we put illustrations and short stories together, it helps the students understand the content better. Another plus is that the students will be interacting with what caused the Great Migration and the emotions of the families because it's included in the book.
As for activities, the students can do a sequencing of events either as an assignment or as a whole class discussion. Maybe the teacher can ask the students about the emotions they see in the picture or the words and do an activity based on emotions. For the older students, they can put on a class play only for their own class to see that is quick about the great migration.
